Park House - Image

The challenge was to extend the fine example of a traditional two storey Shetland house.  It had to be done in a manner that respected the proportions and appearance of the original house and its beautiful, prominent setting.

A semi open-plan layout was used to provide the spacious feel on a relatively small foot print.  A central pillar provides some enclosure to the sitting room and defines the dining room.  A full height window allows full appreciation of the of the wonderful view south from the dining table.

Latterly, the old stone sheds behind the house were replaced with a more spacious and modern double garage, boat store and outdoor shower room and kitchenette, all on the same footprint.

The extension had to provide a more spacious and better lit living and dining area given the restrictive size and location of the current set up.  Improvement of the entrance was required to address the modern access from the car park at the rear.
